Placid Lakeshore SunrisePosted by jamey pyles (portland, United States) on 5 August 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. i went on a camping trip with some friends for a few days at timothy lake in the mount hood national forest. this lake is huge, 13 miles around the whole lake. we got there at about nine thirty and set up camp almost dark. after a few hours catching crawdads (for breakfast the next morning) and sitting by the fire, we went to bed and somehow magically woke up for this magical sunrise on the lakeshore. it was very cloudy, which made this deep color. it lasted about five minutes. this is the only shot i'll post from the camping trip, so i will continue describing my adventure. that morning we boiled the last nights catch of crawdads. they taste really good, sortof like a small lobster. a few hours later i set off on a long mountain bike ride around the lake. i went almost halfway then turned around because i told friends that i would be back in an hour. it sprinkled a bit, then cleared up so i went on a five mile hike around the other side of the lake. i have about two miles of lake shore that i havent seen yet.... i never did get to see it... maybe next time. after i got back, feeling pretty sore, it started to heavy mist. we sat around the lake and campfire for a while until dark. we went to the lake and caught a few crawdads and boiled them that night, then went off to bed. the next day i didnt see the sunrise, and woke up considerably later. we headed off to kah-nee-tah in the indian reservation for the day then came back and packed out that evening. great experience!
